Infrawire — Common Payment Issues
This document outlines common reasons why a payment may fail, depending on the payment method used.

- Blocked by your bank — Your bank may block the transaction for security reasons (e.g. foreign merchant, unusual amount, unrecognized transaction type).
- Flagged as fraud — The transaction was automatically detected as potentially fraudulent by your bank's or card provider's fraud detection system.
- Expired card — The card's expiration date has passed.
- Incorrect card details — Card number, expiration date, or CVV entered incorrectly.
- 3D Secure authentication failure — The additional verification step (OTP, banking app confirmation) was not completed or failed.
- Card limit exceeded — The transaction exceeds your card's daily/monthly spending limit.
PayPal
- Insufficient PayPal balance — Not enough funds in your PayPal account.
- Linked card/bank declined — The funding source attached to your PayPal account rejected the charge.
- Account limited or restricted — PayPal has placed a limitation on your account (e.g. pending verification, suspicious activity review).
- Currency conversion issue — Problems processing the payment due to currency mismatch or conversion fees.
- Transaction flagged as suspicious — PayPal's fraud detection system blocked the payment.
Cryptocurrencies
- Insufficient funds or network fee — Wallet balance too low to cover the payment plus network (gas) fees.
- Wrong network or address used — Sending via an incompatible network or to an incorrect wallet address.
- Transaction not confirmed — Network congestion causing delays in confirmation.
- Wallet connectivity issues — Problems connecting or authorizing the wallet.
- Underpayment — Sent amount doesn't match the required amount due to price fluctuation or fee miscalculation.
Bank Transfer via SEPA
- Incorrect IBAN/BIC — Wrong account details entered.
- Processing delays — SEPA transfers can take 1–2 business days; delays may occur due to bank processing times.
- Compliance/AML checks — Banks may hold transfers for anti-money-laundering verification.
- Insufficient funds — Not enough balance in the sending account.
- Transfer limits exceeded — The amount exceeds your bank's transfer limit.
Russian Bank Card (SBP)
- Bank-side restrictions — Your bank may restrict or block transactions to certain merchants.
