# How to connect to your RDP Server

# How to Connect to Your Windows VPS via RDP

In this guide, you will learn how to easily connect to your Windows VPS from Infrawire using the built-in **Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)** tool on Windows.

Before starting, make sure you have your server credentials handy (IP address, username, and password). You can find them in your delivery email or directly on your Infrawire dashboard.

## Step-by-Step Instructions

### Step 1: Get an Infrawire Windows VPS

If you don't have a server yet:

1. Head over to [**infrawire.net**](https://infrawire.net).
2. Navigate to the **VPS/VDS** section in the menu and click on **Windows**.
3. Scroll down to choose your preferred plan. All Infrawire Windows plans come with **100% full Administrator access**.

### Step 2: Open Remote Desktop Connection

You do not need to install any third-party software on Windows, as the tool is built right into your operating system.

1. Click on your Windows **Start Menu** or search bar.
2. Type **Remote Desktop Connection** (or `mstsc`) and open the application.

### Step 3: Enter Your Server IP Address

1. In the Remote Desktop Connection window, locate the **Computer** field.
2. Copy your VPS **IP Address** from your Infrawire dashboard or email and paste it here.
3. Click **Connect**.

### Step 4: Enter Your Credentials

A prompt will appear asking for your login information:

1. **Username:** Depending on your specific server setup, your username will be either `Admin`, `admin`, or `Administrator`. *Please verify your delivery email to see exactly which one was assigned to your instance.*
2. **Password:** Copy and paste the password provided in your dashboard or email.
3. Click **OK**.

### Step 5: Accept the Security Warning

The first time you connect, a security certificate warning might pop up. This is completely normal for new remote connections.

1. Click **Yes** to confirm and proceed with the connection.

> 🔒 **Security Best Practice:** To keep your server completely secure, we highly recommend changing your default Windows password immediately after your first successful login.
